Ready to Finally Paint Abstract Art That Feels Unmistakably You?Â
Find the Clarity and Confidence That Comes with Guided Support and Real Feedback.
Maybe your paintings feel too busy, flat, or overworked... and no matter how many layers you add, they still don’t feel like you. It’s not effort that’s missing, but clarity, the ability to see what works and trust your next step.
Intuitive & Spontaneous Abstracts is a deeply personal 9-week journey for intermediate artists who are tired of feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure of their voice. This isn’t just about better paintings, it’s about becoming the independent, confident artist you know you can be.
I work with just 10 artists at a time to ensure meaningful, individualized support in a close-knit group.
Our next small group begins August 25th, 2025.

Stop Chasing Styles. Start Expressing Your Voice.
You’re not here to copy someone else’s style. You’re here because your paintings still feel too busy, flat, or overworked... its like something is missing. What you want is art that finally feels like you.
In 8 modules and one live painting session, Intuitive & Spontaneous Abstracts will help you:
Find clarity... see your work with new eyes, understand why some paintings feel “off,” and know your next step with confidence.
Build courage... stop second-guessing, take risks on the canvas, and trust your voice instead of covering things up or holding back.
Create authentic art... move beyond comparing yourself to others or feeling “awful up against the rest,” and start creating paintings that are truly your own.
This is a mentored journey that supports you through the messy parts — when paintings feel overworked or stuck — with clear steps, personal feedback, and small-group connection.
Imagine receiving weekly, personal feedback on your art from a mentor who doesn’t just critique, but helps you uncover hidden potential, see where depth or variety is missing, and guide you forward with clarity. No more wasting layers, no more guessing, no more throwing your paintings in the garbage.
If you’re ready to stop feeling stuck and start painting with clarity and confidence, I’d love to support you in taking that next step.
Start Your Journey to Clarity — Apply Now
In 9 weeks, you’ll go from feeling stuck with overworked paintings, doubting your voice, and comparing yourself to others… to painting with freedom, clarity, and confidence, finally creating abstract art that feels unmistakably your own.

Hi! I'm Cathy Mevik — artist and mentor
But it hasn't always felt that way
I’ve taken a lot of courses. I even went through a full three-year art education. You’d think that would’ve been enough, but it wasn’t.
Painting on canvas felt like a fight more often than not. I’d freeze as soon as I made a mark, afraid to mess it up.
Scrolling Instagram made things worse. I’d compare, second-guess, and hear the same voice over and over always telling me:  “ You're not good enough.”
I didn’t get it. How could one painting come together so easily — and the very next feel like I’d forgotten how to paint?
I wanted to trust myself, but I how could I when I was so inconsitent.
And that thing everyone talks about — “finding your voice”?
That always felt out of reach.Â
If this is how you feel now, know that you are not alone.Â

Things didn’t change overnight. But they did change.
Not perfect. Just honest. And that changed everything.
You need to build a strong foundation!
Many artists believe they can finish a painting through intuition alone.
But when something always feels a bit off, it’s not about talent — it’s about missing knowledge.
Understanding things like color, value, and contrast helps you make decisions you can trust.
These are the things that make the difference between creating a successful painting — or staying stuck in confusion.
It’s not about rules. It’s not about talent.
It’s about having the tools and understanding to create with confidence and intention.
When your foundation is strong, your intuition can finally flow.
This is how your emotions become visible.
And how your paintings start to feel like they’re saying something real.
You need a strong mindset to paint loose and free!
It’s hard to paint freely when you’re full of doubt and unsure of how to move forward.
The fear of getting it wrong, of being judged, of not being “good enough” — it can take over quickly.
Knowing who you are as an artist helps you build a mindset that carries you through the hard days.
It’s what helps you take risks, trust your instincts, and create work you truly love — work you’re proud to share.
It’s also what allows your paintings to connect on an emotional level.
It’s what makes someone want to hang your art on their wall — because they feel something when they look at it.
Your truth matters. Your voice matters.
And when you start trusting that, your art changes — and so do you.

What you’ll achieve
Move from stuck to clear
Make stronger, more confident decisions
Finish more work that feels like you
Is this the right course for you?
This course is for artists who are ready to show up, not with perfect art or perfect answers, but with honesty. You don’t need to feel confident. You just need to be willing.
If you feel the pull to finally paint in a way that feels like you, then this course was made for you.

You’ll learn how to use color with greater intention — creating work that feels more dynamic, expressive, and true to what you want to say.
This module helps you expand your creative vocabulary and unlock new possibilities in your painting process.

Module 7 — Becoming an independent artist
Develop the confidence to trust your voice and make bold, authentic choices in your work.
This module helps you lean into your intuition, rely on your instincts, and make decisions that truly reflect who you are as an artist.
You’ll start creating more freely and independently — not just with inspiration, but with conviction, clarity, and a stronger connection to your unique vision.
Module 8 — Igniting creativity through the painting process
Follow along as I paint on multiple canvases, showing you how this approach can help you move through challenges and make more intuitive decisions.
This final module brings everything together and gives you a clear, grounded process you can return to again and again — so you can approach your work with more confidence, freedom, and creative clarity.

How we’ll move through this journey together
This course is designed to give you structure without pressure and space to go deep, reflect, and grow with guidance each week.
Each week, you’ll receive a new set of video lessons focused on one part of the painting process. These lessons are pre-recorded, so you can watch at the time that works best for you. But if you follow the weekly rhythm, I’ll be able to support you most fully in the live feedback sessions, helping you see your work clearly as it unfolds, and guiding you through those moments when things feel stuck or overworked.
You’ll have access to the full course content for a year, so you can revisit any lesson as often as you like, especially when you want to go deeper or return to something with fresh eyes.
In addition to the lessons, we’ll meet live every week for a feedback call. I’ll review your work, help you move past the points that feel confusing or flat, and guide you through whatever comes up in your process.
Around halfway through the course, we’ll take a break from new content and meet for a full-length live painting session. You’ll see how I work through stuck points in real time, and you’ll have space that week to reflect, experiment, or catch up.
Time Commitment:
To get the most out of this course, I recommend setting aside 4 to 6 hours per week. That usually includes:
- Watching the lessons (1 to 1.5 hours)
- Studio time to explore and apply the week's focus (2 to 4 hours)
- Optional time engaging in the community or watching feedback from others (around 30 minutes)
This course is about depth, not speed. Some weeks will feel full of momentum. Others may feel slower and more reflective. Both are part of the process.

365 Days to Dive Deep and Revisit Lessons
Support for moments that feel uncertain.
And because growth doesn’t happen all at once… I’ve added a few quiet supports for the days when you need to reconnect with your voice and trust your next step.
AÂ short encouragement audio.
When doubt creeps in, press play. I’ll be right there with you.
Some days, painting feels like a fight. You second-guess everything.
This short audio was created for those days — to remind you that doubt isn’t something to fix. It’s a sign you care.
It’s not a lesson. It’s not a pep talk.
It’s a real voice from someone who’s been there — and still finds herself there sometimes — saying:
You’re not alone.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re doing the work.

Navigate yout painting process.
Create with Confidence and Clarity
This printable guide supports you through the three trickiest parts of painting: how to begin with intention, how to move forward when you feel stuck, and how to recognize when your work is done.
You’ll get clear, actionable prompts to help you connect to your voice, understand what your painting needs next, and stay in rhythm with your process — even when doubt shows up.
It’s gentle, honest, and made to sit beside you as you paint. With this guide, you’ll approach your canvas with more clarity, more trust, and the confidence to keep going.
Paint live with me
Exclusive live painting session during the break week
Step into the studio with me for a full-length live session that brings the process to life — raw, real, and unrehearsed.
Between Week 4 and 5, we pause the lessons and come together to paint. You’ll see how I navigate stuck points, make intuitive choices, and stay grounded through the ups and downs of a real painting session.
This is where the ideas in the course meet the reality of the canvas — emotions, challenges, and all.
If two cohorts are running at once, we’ll share the session — a rare chance to connect with a wider circle of artists walking the same path. Bring your brushes, your questions, and your curiosity.

Each of these extras is yours to keep — to revisit whenever you want to reflect, reset, or reconnect with your process.

Wondering why this course is worth the investment?
Learn to Paint With Confidence and Direction
This course brings everything together not more tips or scattered advice, but a clear process that helps you paint with confidence and direction.
You’ll learn to trust your intuition and make thoughtful, courageous choices, so your paintings feel personal, grounded, and like you.
Personal Guidance in a Small Group That Sees You
I’ll be with you every step — offering feedback, answering questions, and helping you move through stuck points.
With no more than 10 students per group, you’ll be part of an intimate, supportive circle where your work is seen and your growth is nurtured.
Tools, Trust, and a Process That Stays With You
This course gives you so much more than lessons — it gives you a consistent way of working that lasts.
You’ll know how to begin, move through resistance, and finish with clarity. Even when things feel messy, you’ll have a process you can return to again and again.

“This gave me more than I expected — and more than other courses ever did.”
Other courses taught me to copy. This one helped me create with confidence. Cathy’s teaching gave me the tools, insight, and support I needed to grow as an artist — on my own terms. I felt truly seen and guided every step of the way.
Anita AlvsĂĄker

“I finally understand who I am as an artist.”
Cathy teaches the why behind painting — not just what to do. Her course helped me discover my color preferences and connect deeply with my own voice. It’s the best course I’ve ever taken, and I keep coming back to the modules again and again.

“Don’t hesitate — just sign up!”
I’ve taken other online courses and been part of painting clubs, but Cathy is the best. She explains composition and color mixing so clearly, that everything finally makes sense. Painting is so much easier — and more fun — now that I understand what I’m doing.
