You paint over the bold parts and tone down the energy, because it's not perfect enough for the world to see. I get it... because I used to do that too.Â
Living Abstracts gives you the clarity to trust what emerges in your paintings... so you can create bold, authentic paintings that feel unmistakably yours.
Our next small cohort opens on Febuary 2nd 2026
Just 10Â spots available.
Intuition alone isn't enough... and that's not your fault
You've been told to "follow your intuition" and "paint from the heart." But when something always feels off and you can't see why, you're left guessing. So you do what feels safe—you tone it down, cover it up, start over.
The missing piece isn't more intuition. It's understanding the visual language of art, starting with value, color and variety, so you can see what's working. That's exactly what Living Abstracts teaches you through The Clarity Framework: my 4-stage process that gives your intuition the structure it needs to create paintings that feel unmistakably yours.
Over 8 weeks, you'll master this process through 9 live feedback calls—each limited to just 5 artists—in a cohort of 10 dedicated painters ready to break the pattern together.
Â
In 8 weeks, you'll go from second-guessing your work and painting over the bold parts... to making intentional choices, trusting what emerges, and finishing paintings you're actually proud of.
Hi! I'm Cathy Mevik — artist and mentor
For years, I put everyone else's needs before my own and lost touch with what I needed.
Then I discovered painting—and everything changed.
Painting gave me a way to express what I'd been holding in. For the first time, my work felt honest, coming from somewhere real inside me.
But I also struggled.
I'd create alive moments in my work, then second-guess them. Paint over them. Try to fix my way to "perfect" instead of trusting what was emerging.
I didn't know how to SEE what was actually working — so fear and doubt took over every time.
That's the gap I had to cross. And it's exactly what I teach now.
But it hasn't always felt that way
I took countless courses—even completed a three-year art education. You'd think that would be enough, but it wasn't.
Painting often felt like a fight. I'd freeze the moment I made a mark, afraid to mess it up. Scrolling Instagram made it worse—I compared, second-guessed, and kept hearing, "You're not good enough."
One painting would come together easily, while the next felt like I'd forgotten how to paint. I wanted to trust myself, but how could I when I was so inconsistent? And "finding your voice"? That always felt out of reach.
If you feel this way now, please know that you are not alone.
Things didn't change overnight. But they did change.
I realized I'd only been given fragments—scattered skills, tips, and ideas. What I really needed was a way to bring everything together so I could actually SEE what was working in my paintings.
The breakthrough wasn't learning to trust my intuition more.
It was learning to trust what I could see.
I started understanding the visual language of art—how the elements and principles actually function together, not as rules, but as a way to assess my work clearly. Suddenly, I could tell what was alive and worth protecting versus what needed refining.
Little by little, I built a process that gave me both clarity AND freedom.
The fear didn't disappear. But I learned to work with it—because now I had something solid to rely on.
For the first time, I was consistently finishing paintings that felt unmistakably mine. Not perfect—just honest. And that changed everything.
No artist should have to keep circling the same frustrations without direction. That's why I created The Clarity Framework—a four-stage process that helps you move from confusion to confidence, from stuck to finished work you love.
When you can finally see clearly and have a process you trust, you grow faster, deeper, and with more clarity than you imagined.
I know, because I've stood exactly where you are now.
When you can see clearly, you stop playing it safe
Many artists hope intuition alone will carry them through. But when something always feels off, it's not about talent—it's about missing knowledge.
Understanding value, color, and contrast helps you make decisions you can trust. These are the tools that turn emotional impulses into paintings that actually work.
But here's where the magic happens: when you combine knowledge with intuition—when structure meets feeling—your paintings become unmistakably yours.
Not by copying other artists. Not by following someone else's steps.
The magic starts when you make what's authentically you even stronger with the help of clarity.
When you trust yourself, your work becomes powerful
It's hard to paint freely when doubt creeps in and you're unsure how to move forward. The fear of getting it wrong, being judged, or not feeling "good enough" can take over fast.
Knowing who you are as an artist helps you build the mindset to get through the hard days. It's what lets you take risks, trust your instincts, and create work you're proud to share.
And when you pair that courage with clarity—when you can see what's working and trust your next move—that's when your paintings become emotionally powerful.
That's what makes someone want to hang your art on their wall. They feel something when they look at it.
What you'll achieve
Move from stuck to clear
Your paintings will stop feeling busy, flat, or overworked. You'll stop overthinking every mark and second-guessing your choices. Instead, you'll build a process you can trust—one that brings clarity and structure to your intuitive way of working, so you can move forward with confidence.
Make stronger, more confident decisions
You'll move through the messy middle without freezing or wanting to give up. You'll understand how to use value, color, and contrast to support your expression—and you'll learn to see your work clearly: what's working, what needs more, and when it's time to stop.
Finish more work that feels like you
You'll start to see your personal voice show up consistently in your paintings—and feel proud of what you've created instead of comparing it to others. This isn't about painting a certain way. It's about learning to paint like you.
Are we a good match?
This course is for committed abstract artists who are ready to go deeper—into their work, their voice, and their process.
You might recognize yourself if:
- You've taken other courses but still feel stuck in your painting process
- You keep overworking, adding layer after layer, and your paintings end up too busy, flat, or lacking depth
- You want to paint with more freedom, but also with the clarity and courage to trust yourself
- You long to express something real, but it never quite comes through on the canvas
- You've made work you like, but finishing consistently still feels hard
- You're tired of circling the same frustrations and are ready for lasting change
This course is for artists who are ready to show up—not with perfect art or perfect answers, but with honesty. You don't need to feel confident. You just need to be willing.
If you feel the pull to paint in a way that feels unmistakably yours, then Living Abstracts was made for you.
You've gathered some pieces... now let's complete the picture
You've taken courses, tried new techniques, and followed your intuition. You already have many of the pieces you need. But if things still feel disconnected, it's not because you're doing it wrong—it's because no one has helped you bring it all together.
That's exactly what Living Abstracts is for: to give you a clear process that connects what you already know, so you can finally see what's working and move forward with confidence.
You'll learn tools and methods that stay with you long after the course ends. This isn't just another scattered lesson—it's a turning point.
This is where things finally click, and your art begins to feel truly yours.
The next cohort begins January 27th, 2026.

You'll learn to rely on what you see and what you know—making decisions that truly reflect who you are as an artist.
You'll start creating more freely and independently—not just with inspiration, but with conviction, clarity, and a stronger connection to your unique vision.
This stage brings together all parts of the Clarity Framework—helping you move fluidly between intuition and technique, emotion and assessment, freedom and refinement.
Â
Igniting creativity through the painting process
Watch me paint on multiple canvases, demonstrating how everything you've learned—the visual language, color concepts, mindset shifts—works together in real time.
You'll see how I move through challenges, make decisions, and know when to stop. This isn't a polished demo—it's the actual process, including the messy parts.
This final module brings the entire Clarity Framework to life—combining everything into a clear, grounded process you can return to again and again. You'll finish the course able to approach your work with confidence, freedom, and clarity—no matter what stage you're in.

How we'll move through this journey together
This course is designed to give you structure without pressure, and plenty of space to go deep, reflect, and grow—with guidance every step of the way.
All 8 video modules are available immediately, so you can work at your own pace. Modules are organized to build on each other, and I recommend following the weekly rhythm if you can—it helps you get the most out of our live feedback sessions, where I'll help you see your work clearly as it unfolds and guide you through moments when things feel stuck or overworked.
You'll have access to all course content for a year, so you can revisit any lesson as often as you like—especially when you want to go deeper or return with fresh eyes.
Each week, we'll meet live for feedback calls—with no more than 5 artists per call. I'll personally review your work, help you move past confusing or flat spots, and guide you through whatever comes up in your process.
Throughout it all, you'll move through the Clarity Framework with daily support in the community to keep you inspired and on track.
Time Commitment:
To get the most out of this course, I recommend setting aside 4 to 6 hours per week. That usually includes:
- Watching the lessons (1 to 1.5 hours)
- Studio time to explore and apply the week's focus (2 to 4 hours)
- Optional time engaging in the community or watching feedback from others (around 30 minutes)
This course is about depth, not speed. Some weeks will feel full of momentum, while others may be slower and more reflective. Both are part of the process—and both will help you grow.

Support for moments that feel uncertain.
Growth doesn't happen all at once. So I've created two quiet supports for the days when doubt shows up and you need to reconnect with your voice and trust your next step.
A short encouragement audio
When doubt creeps in, press play. I'll be right there with you.
Some days, painting feels like a fight. You second-guess everything.
This short audio was created for those days—to remind you that doubt isn't something to fix. It's a sign you care.
It's not a lesson. It's not a pep talk.
It's a real voice from someone who's been there—and still finds herself there sometimes—saying:
You're not alone.
You're not doing it wrong.
You're doing the work.
Navigate your painting process
Create with Confidence and Clarity
This printable guide supports you through the three trickiest parts of painting: how to begin with intention, how to move forward when you feel stuck, and how to recognize when your work is done.
You'll get clear, actionable prompts to help you connect to your voice, understand what your painting needs next, and stay in rhythm with your process—even when doubt shows up.
It's gentle, honest, and made to sit beside you as you paint. With this guide, you'll approach your canvas with more clarity, trust, and confidence.
Wondering why this course is worth the investment?
Most abstract painting courses have 50, 100, even hundreds of students. You watch demos, but you're lucky if you get personal feedback on your actual work.
Living Abstracts is different: Just 10 students per cohort, split into groups of 5 for live calls. That means I see your paintings every single week, know your challenges, and guide you personally—not through a screen with a crowd of hundreds. You won't be invisible. You'll be seen, known, and supported throughout your entire journey.
Learn to Paint With Confidence and Direction
This course brings everything together—not more tips or scattered advice, but a clear process that helps you paint with confidence and direction.
You'll learn to trust your intuition and make thoughtful, courageous choices, so your paintings feel personal, grounded, and unmistakably yours.
Daily support in a private community with 10 students
Beyond the weekly calls, I'm in the community every weekday—responding to your posts, answering questions, and helping you stay connected to your process.
You're not alone between calls. You'll have consistent support and a group of committed artists who understand exactly what you're going through.
Tools, Trust, and a Process That Stays With You
This course gives you more than lessons—it gives you a consistent way of working that lasts beyond the 8 weeks.
You'll know how to begin, move through resistance, and finish with clarity. Even when things feel messy, you'll have a process you can return to again and again.
“This gave me more than I expected — and more than other courses ever did.”
Other courses taught me to copy. This one helped me create with confidence. Cathy’s teaching gave me the tools, insight, and support I needed to grow as an artist — on my own terms. I felt truly seen and guided every step of the way.
Anita AlvsĂĄker
“I finally understand who I am as an artist.”
Cathy teaches the why behind painting — not just what to do. Her course helped me discover my color preferences and connect deeply with my own voice. It’s the best course I’ve ever taken, and I keep coming back to the modules again and again.
Hildegun Ravnanger Sivertsen
“Don’t hesitate — just sign up!”
I’ve taken other online courses and been part of painting clubs, but Cathy is the best. She explains composition and color mixing so clearly, that everything finally makes sense. Painting is so much easier — and more fun — now that I understand what I’m doing.
